BETSEY SLOAN
Gourd Art
Betsey Sloan, a native of New England, has lived in Franklin for twelve years. She joined MCAA June 2017, and is currently the First Vice President of Education. Her passion for creating gourd art and antler baskets has earned her recognition as an instructor at numerous gourd gatherings/festivals. She has taught gourd vessels from New Mexico to Florida to Vermont and points in between, including J.C. Campbell Folk School. Sloan has also owned and operated her own consignment gallery and teaching studio where she taught all types of basketry. She is the author of two books, Antler Art for Baskets and Gourds, and In Lace Resin for Gourd and Woodcraft.
