What is Precious Metal Clay (PMC)? PMC is a pliable clay which can be used to create beautiful metal works of art. PMC and base metal clay consist of microscopic metal particles, powdered organic binders and water. It has a consistency of ceramic clay and works much the same way with shared processes and terminology. The types of clay available are copper, bronze, brass, silver and gold. Once the finished piece is dried it is then fired in a kiln at high temperatures, the binders burn away, and metal particles sinter together forming a metal piece of art. The piece is then polished and can be enhanced with other finishes. Kathleen has received certification 101 for completion of Camp PMC certification program through the Sawtooth School for Visual Art in February 12, 2022. She lives in Franklin, NC with her husband Mac and her dog Bubba. She enjoys the beauty that the mountains bring everyday to life in this part of the State.
