Offsite Display and Sales Opportunities
Offsite Displays
- All Offsite locations: art work is displayed at the risk of the artist as described in the Displaying and Selling Art - All Locations section. we suggest you select work for display that is too big or heavy to pocket! However, we ask each location to take reasonable care to ensure that work is not stolen nor damaged during display.
- Franklin Airport Display Display-eligible members may be invited, through juried selection or other means, to display their work at the airport. If sales should result from these displays they are subject to the same rules as those governing sales in the locations mentioned above (see All Locations section). The rules for these shows are communicated to eligible members at the time of the display change.
- Southwestern Community College Campus - Webster and Franklin Display-eligible members may be invited, through juried selection or other means, to display their work at SCC. If sales should result from these displays they are subject to the same rules as those governing sales in the locations mentioned above (see All Locations section). The rules for these shows are communicated to eligible members at the time of the display change.
- Macon County Library Display-eligible members may be invited to show their work at the library. The selection is generally made from the current gallery show by the coordinator and sales are subject to the same rules as those above.
- Other Presently the association has exhibits in Main Street businesses and other venues. The rules for other venues (1 and 2 above) may be a little different for business displays, and business owners may have additional selection criteria that display-eligible members must follow.
Offsite Sales - General
- The policies in Displaying and Selling Art- All Locations apply to all offsite sales venues.
- Macon County Art Association sponsors offsite sales at various locations. Exhibiting and Benefactor members in good standing may sign up to be included in these shows. The Association may also rent booth space in arts and craft shows sponsored by other organizations and make space available to members.
- A fee may be charged to members for exhibiting in the shows, as approved by the Association Board.
- Exhibiting and Benefactor members in good standing may sign up to be included in shows. If more members wish to participate than the space will hold, the spaces will be allocated by lottery. A waiting list may be maintained.
- Participants are allocated space according to their responsibilities (treasurer or other sales coordinator), the type of display and other criteria, such as their mobility, the nature of their work and other factors.
- Exhibiting members must conform to the space allocated. Generally artists are asked to provide their own tent and displays, but help may be provided as required. They should plan to attend each event for the duration of the show.
- Participants who are unable to attend a show should notify the show coordinator as soon as possible so that their space may be allocated to exhibiting members on the waiting list.
- Sales are processed by Uptown Gallery off-site sales equipment under the direction of the Association’s treasurer.
- Artists should present their work in a professional manner and only include work that is eligible for display at the Uptown Gallery.
- Participants are responsible for displaying and pricing their own work. Sales tax is applicable in addition to the advertised price and will be included in the sales price.
- Participants are responsible for wrapping their sold works for their customers.
Outside Sales - Village Square Art and Craft Show, Highlands
- Macon County Art Association sponsors the Village Square Art and Crafts Shows in Highlands in June and August. These shows are open to artists and artisans whose work meets criteria developed by the Association and approved by the Board. The shows' coordinator is the Offsite Sales Coordinator for MCAA and is responsible for implementing all policy and procedures for all artists and artisans, including jurying as deemed necessary.
- A fee may be charged to members for exhibiting in the MCAA section at the shows, as approved by the Association Board.
- The general policies, Displaying and Selling Art - All Locations, apply to members exhibiting in the MCAA section of the Highlands Outdoor Show.
- Exhibiting and Benefactor members in good standing may sign up to be included in the MCAA section at the shows. This section will comprise several contiguous tents identified as Uptown Gallery, with screens for displaying hanging pieces, browse boxes for unframed pieces on canvas and for unframed, matted pieces. If more members wish to participate than the space will hold, the spaces will be allocated in a manner developed by the Board with the Gallery Committee. This may include renting additional booth spaces. A waiting list may be maintained. Additionally, members may wish to participate by renting booth space adjacent to the association's display or in the general arts section.

- Exhibiting members must conform to the space allocated. Generally, artists displaying at the show should plan to staff the show as required and/or to set up the tents and displays.
- MCAA space participants who are unable to attend a show should notify the show coordinator as soon as possible so that their space may be allocated to participating members on the waiting list.
