Signing Up MCAA members

There are two forms that new members may use to become members of MCAA.  One is included in the brochure; the main one is a triplicate form.  These are in the new members packets at the front desk.  Extra copies are in the file cabinet beneath the cash register.
Here's how to help someone become an Association member:
  1. Congratulate them!
  2. What are the main purposes in their joining MCAA?  Do they want to display in Uptown Gallery or take part in off-site sales and shows?  If so, they need to be Displaying or Benefactor (long-term) members.  If they aren't intending to do these at this time they are to become Partner Members.
  3. Volunteers who aren't family members of existing MCAA members should also complete the form, so that we have their contact information and they have all the information to be be informed MCAA participants.
  4. Have the new member fill in all their contact information.  Make sure it's all there!
  5. Have them indicate any special interests they have or skills they are willing to put to use for MCAA.
  6. Receive payment and process it according to the methods in the staffing guide.  Give them a receipt and record it in the log.
  7. Give the member a new member packet and show them the information in it.  Tell them about all the Association has done and is doing in the community and for members.  Give them a brochure and lists of meetings and workshops if necessary.  Give them a copy of the current newsletter.
  8. Give the new member your name and contact information so that they can ask questions later - they'll perhaps be more comfortable with you than someone they don't know.
  9. If their main intent is to take classes, and they are not yet enrolled, give them the information on the classes we offer and the contact information for the instructor for the class or classes that interest them.  It's especially important for new artists to contact the instructor before they come to class.  Remember, art supplies are available from the Art Room and the Office Supply store on Highlands Road and both have discounts for Art Association members.
  10. Look at the form and put the copies in the required files (member director, gallery director and treasurer.)
